Flamenco Vivo's "Center for Flamenco Arts"
Express your passion, creativity, and imagination. Take a flamenco class! Our dance classes are fun and friendly ways to experience the power of flamenco up close and personal. New York flamenco dance classes are facilitated by Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana Company members Maya de Silva, Juana Cala and Leslie Roybal. Each class includes technique and choreography with a strong focus on musicality, creativity and the cultural background of flamenco. Our ongoing classes are open to students of all levels. You can register for a 7 or 14 week session or feel free to drop in! If you have questions about which class would best fit you, feel free to contact us.

Spring Session: March 3rd - April 21st

Intro to Flamenco - 6:00 to 7:30pm with Juana Cala
No Experience Necessary! This class is for anyone who is new to flamenco. We will take you through the basics of flamenco technique, movement phrases and flamenco rhythms. This class is taught in a 7-week session that gives you a broader understanding of flamenco and its origins.
Flamenco I – 7:30 to 9:00pm with Juana Cala
This class is focused toward the student who wishes to gain command of flamenco technique, rhythm and style. It begins to explore more complex marking and footwork steps, culminating in a full choreography. Each class builds upon the other throughout the session.
Winter Session: January 8th - February 26th
NEW! 8-week Mantón Workshop: 6-7:30pm with Alice Blumenfeld
$240 for 8 classes
$35/class drop-in rate pending space
This class will teach the specialized technique of the mantón de manila (embroidered shawl) that is commonly used in flamenco. Students will acquire the skills needed to handle this majestic prop, learning how to make the elegant fabric and fringe dance along with them. The class will focus on technique variations in numerous flamenco rhythms and students will learn a choreography por alegrías with the mantón. Don't miss this opportunity to add this essential element to your dancing! Instructor Alice Blumenfeld has extensively studied the use of the mantón in Spain and recently returned from Sevilla where she completed a Fulbright Grant in flamenco dance. She currently is based in New York where she performs and tours with various flamenco companies including Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana.

- Pre-Registration and Pre-payment are required if you wish to take the whole session. Please note that because of popularity we usually have a waiting list for the classes. We cannot refund for missed classes, though we are glad to offer make-up sessions.
