Will you help create more amazing moments like these?
We rely on donations from people just like you for everything we do, like creating shows with some of flamenco’s biggest stars, providing opportunities for aspiring artists to pursue their dreams, and offering educational programs that instill confidence and creativity in generations young and old.
You can make a difference––donations of all sizes help!
Xianix Barrera, beloved Teaching Artist at Flamenco Vivo, shares her tips for “cultivating dexterity in your digits” in this article for dance practitioners:
“Think of your hands and fingers as important parts of a larger whole,’ Barrera adds. ‘As dancers, we use our bodies; we are nonverbal communicators,’ she explains. ‘With your hand, that’s just an extension of it in smaller detail.”
Each year at the Madrid Certamen de Coreografía de Danza Española y Flamenco, Carlota Santana selects a winner from the final competition for the Premio Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana Nueva York, which awards the dancer the opportunity to travel to NYC to set work on artists in our community and serve as a Juror for the Flamenco Certamen USA.
So how will you find out who wins? For the first time ever, the Madrid Certamen will be doing a livestream of their finals from their website on Sunday, July 2nd (7:30pm CET/ 1:30 pm EST). Watch the finals and send us your best guess. To find out who won the Flamenco Vivo prize, look out for the next La Voz newsletter!
