LAURA PERALTA (Dancer) began her musical studies at the age of 8, attending the Manhattan School of Music and later the Johns Hopkins University, where she received her BA degrees. She began her formal dance studies with Omayra Amaya in New York City at the age of 23. In Spain, Laura has studied under artists including Úrsula López, Guadalupe Torres, José Maldonado, Isaac Tovar, Pilar Ogalla, Adela Campallo, Juan Ogalla, and Esperanza Fernandez. She was also a scholarship recipient for the Flamenco Program at the School at Jacob’s Pillow. Laura has danced for companies including Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana, A Palo Seco Flamenco, Soledad Barrio y Noche Flamenca, Pasión y Arte, Juan Siddi Flamenco Theatre, and has had original work selected for festivals. She has performed in the NYC area and toured throughout the US, sharing the stage with renowned artists at venues including the National Museum of Dance, Wolftrap, WhiteBird, Shakespeare in the Park, the Rockefeller Estate, Kaatsbaan International Center for Dance, BAM Fisher Hall, Jacob’s Pillow Inside/Outside Festival and the Joyce Theater. Laura currently teaches, performs and continues her flamenco studies in New York City and Seville, Spain.
