Join us for more palos in 2023! We will continue our intensive study of the flamenco styles. Learn to distinguish between each rhythm, identify a palo’s unique characteristics, and recognize letras (verses) of different styles. A general knowledge of the flamenco palos is recommended.
This is a virtual class given in Spanish with English translation.
A recording will be available for 7 days after each live class.

Legendary flamenco guitarist Sabicas recorded music with Afro-Cuban saxophonist El Negro Aquilino and Spanish saxophonist Fernando Vilches in the 1930s, a musical union far ahead of its time. The genre of flamenco jazz did not find its footing until arguably decades later. Lucky for us, these early recordings survived––press play to hear Sabicas’ and Aquilino’s saxophone por bulerías.
