A fascinating insight into the creative process behind world-renowned dancer and choreographer Belén Maya’s “Mujeres Valientes”, a 2018 Flamenco Vivo production. This work draws on Maya’s bold, innovative approach to dance-making and explores the fundamental power and courage of two Latin American women who, over the centuries, have challenged authorities and fought against ignorance, inequality, and injustice: 17th-century Mexican poet and philosopher Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, and 19th-century activist and South American revolutionary Manuela Sáenz.
